Often when plans for a new micropub are announced it’s a case of taking a closed retail unit with the aim of turning it into a new small watering hole. Yet there is one micropub in Derby that is none of these, instead it’s been set up in a residential premises and now open to drinkers alike. Let’s pay a visit to the Creaky Floorboard, a micropub located just outside Derby City Centre.

A new micropub home

This particular micropub has been created by converting the ground floor of this residential property into drinking premises. There are two separate small rooms plus an outdoor area to choose from, each with their own distinct feel. The main room with bar has that small social club vibe to it, whereas the other room offers a more quieter surrounding complete with a selection of books and games to enjoy.

The outdoor area has both sheltered and open-air seating available, and as a whole is quite a large outdoor area for a micropub to provide.

Who’s for a beer?

Before making yourself too comfortable there’s the important task of purchasing your drinks, and the Creaky Floorboard has plenty for you to choose from. Cask beer drinkers have up to five ales to choose from whilst keg fans have up to four tipples available including a cider option. If beer is not for you then you can also choose from wines, spirits, whiskeys and soft drinks.

Another beer visit?

For what used to be a sole residential premises the owners of the Creaky Floorboard have done a tremendous job of turning the building into a fine micropub. There is plenty to like about this place including a good drinks range, a good traditional pub feel, and not forgetting the outdoor areas too. The Creaky Floorboard certainly makes for a great micropub and is worth a visit. Plus the main bus stops nearby on the main road that the venue is on, so win-win.
