Newton Abbot locals are set to receive their first micro pub as Richard Goodfellow plans on opening the doors to The TapHouse & Bottle Shop & bottleshop to punters this Friday at 5pm.
The micro pub will be located next door to the Tuckers Maltings brewery, with the aim to support local brewers who get their malt from the brewery. The micro pub will be serving a selection of real ales, ciders, local gin and two types of craft beer.
Richard said: “Pubs throughout the UK are closing down at the moments, and the concept of micro pubs is bucking the trend. There has been a resurgence in places like Kent, and we want to bring that to Newton Abbot.
“The TapHouse at Tuckers Maltings will offer a welcoming and relaxed environment hosting three constantly rotating ales from around the South West Region. A micro pub with no loud music or TVs, just high quality beer.”
“I enjoy local beers and local beer festivals, and after working in pubs throughout the years, I have always been interested in pubs.
He continued: “I wanted to do my own thing – this is not going to be a sort of Wetherspoons, but a rustic pub that encourages the community to support good, local beer.
“Drinkers can experience the unique setting of one of the four traditional working maltsters remaining in the country which sits alongside a specialist bottle shop with beers from around the country and the world.”
The new micro pub & bottle shop can be found at Teign Road, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 4AA.
