Last month saw the opening of a new micropub in Nailsea called the Nailsea Micropub (proof once again that you don’t need a fancy name if you serve proper beer!).
Having initially submitted the planning application in June, North Somerset Council gave the go-ahead just two months later in August. Although the usual concerns of noise etc. were raised, fortunately the council saw sense and approved the application in short fashion. Work commenced quickly to transform the former optometrist and the micro opened their doors to the public a few weeks ago on the 27th September.
The owner and landlord, Mark Ashman, has a couple of decades experience working in the pub and leisure industry. Along with business partner Carolyn, they aim to offer mostly local beers with the odd guest ale from further afield. Real Cider, Gins, Wine, Prosecco and a selection of soft drinks are also available along with some bar snacks.
Set in the middle of a busy high street we think it’s an excellent location for a micropub. After only 4 weeks of trading it’s still a bit early to call, but feedback so far seems all positive and we wish Mark and Carolyn all the best.
