Former Natwest Bank located in Southampton is now the home of the brand new micropub ‘Overdraft’. Owner, Amrik Rai, came up with the idea of converting the 110 year old building after finding inspiration from micropubs in the United States.
Mr Rai said: “We could not have found a better place because a pub needs a good cellar and the vault is nine degrees at all times which is the perfect optimum temperature to keep beer cool.”
“It has been a labour of love, we have no experience in any industry like this, it’s just a passion.
“We have no renovation skills or building skills, but we know how we wanted it to look like and we wanted it look like a half way between a factory and a Victorian ale house.”
Overdraft Craft Ale Bar will be managed by Amrik’s 25 year old son, Mikha, along with Fleur Howe (pictured above) and will be open daily from 5pm-10pm with 15 different ales on rotation.
The opening of the Overdraft Craft Ale Bar marks the second micropub to come to Southampton with The Butcher’s Hook opening last year.
