James Nicolla has submitted an application to open a new micropub ‘The Dunelm Tap’ at the stations northbound platform.
Just last year, Durham welcomed their first micropub with the opening of ‘The Station House’ on North Road. The micropubs director, Susannah Mansfield, supports James’ plans and wishes him all the best.
Although the idea may be welcoming to some, not all residents agree with the plans, John Hitchman objected having a micropub at the station saying: “passengers waiting for trains should not have to wait in a pub access”.
A decision on the application is due to be made from Durham Council next month.
