The award winning Liberty Belle micropub, holder of CAMRA’s Pub of the Year Award in 2014 and again in 2015 is now under new management.
Opening in just 2013, the micropub quickly became a great success and attracted a large following due to it’s selection of local ales and ciders and for being a mobile phone free zone. Now the owner, Martin McKeever has passed the ownership over to a new couple due to his plans of moving to Scotland.
The new couple, Andrew & Jo Pearson now run the pub together and hope it will continue to thrive in the community as before. The idea came up after Jo handed her notice in at her previous job and fancied a total career change, it was the Liberty Belle’s cosy, community feel that pushed the couple to make the move.
Andrew Pearson said: It’s this particular pub we were interested in so when it came up on the market we decided to go for it, we liked the idea of independent breweries and picking the ales people like.
“It’s got a very unique character – somebody called it a ‘pub in a living room’.”
Mr Pearson continued: “We have listened to the customers.
“The whole concept is to keep it as the customers like – it’s a community pub and it’s what the customers want.”
Andrew plans on continuing his work as a development manager for charity Guide Dogs for the Blind while Jo will run the pub as the manager.
