Drink up Brewing, a family run brewery, is currently planning to open a new micropub by this time next month, located at a former Bolton takeaway, in Horwich, if the planning permission gets the green light.
However, brewery owner Lewis Russell, 26, doesn’t plan on just settling with the one. In addition to the micropub mentioned above, Lewis would like to bring another similar micropub to Bolton, with the second being located in Westhoughton. The brewery is not just looking to expand via the micropub market either, with two micropubs already in mind, Lewis plans to open up a bar, selling ‘Drink up Brewing’ ales in Bridge Street.
He said:
“The place we are looking at in Bolton is pretty much okay as it is. It used to be a bar so has the infrastructure but we just need to give it a few tweaks.
“We will sell our beers as well as other beers of the world.
“In Horwich our site used to be a takeaway so we have renovated it and worked to improve it. The micro pubs will sell our beer as well as bottles of our produce.
“We will also have hot food upstairs which will be made by my mum. My dad is also helping out with sales.
“It is exciting, we hope to be able to expand not just in Bolton but nationwide.”
