Plans have been submitted to transform a former letting office into a new micropub located in Christchurch.
Owners of the Wight Bear Ale House, David, along with his wife, Nicola, submitted the application, to convert the building into a sister micropub to be named, The Saxon Bear Ale House. Serving real ales and locally produced drinks.
Their proposal to Christchurch Borough Council says : “Currently the local coverage for real ale is partial at best, and not emphatically catered for in the immediate area, so this proposal will be a complimentary, niche market establishment aimed at the mature, responsible drinker and anyone who may wish to try something a bit different to the recognised “pub” model.”
Nicola said: “We hope it will fit in nicely with the other establishments in the area.
“It’s very different to anything else and people really seem to enjoy the concept of what we do.
“It’s a very simple concept. When we decided to open another one, Christchurch was high up on our list.
“We’re hoping there won’t be any objections; we had more than 70 letters of support from people in Southbourne.”
We wish David and Nicola all the best in their new venture and look forward to hearing more information on their second micropub soon.
