Landlord John Fox recently applied to convert the former printer & ink store into a new micropub in Railway Approach.
With a successful application, John has now started the transformation and hopes to open the doors for real ale lovers soon. He’s hoping The Open Arms micropub will attract customers who are serious about good beer, with his target audience being primarily over the age of 30.
He said: “We won’t have music, or fruit machines and we’ll be going for a traditional ‘wood’ decor,”
With the relatively low set up costs of a micropub, John is hoping The Open Arms will be successful enough that he will no longer be required to work up to 90 hours a week to make a living, issues he has faced before after being a publican for 27 years. John is currently the Landlord of The Barley Mow in Tandridge Lane Oxted.
