Earlier this year plans were submitted to transform the former flower shop on Leeds Road, Thackley into a new micropub.
Applicant Christine Townend and her husband, Colin Townend, owner of the property, have now received the go ahead from Bradford Council and can begin with the conversion.
The new micropub is currently unnamed but will have a selection of real ales and provide NO electronic entertainment.
Mr.Townend said: “It feels great to get planning permission.
“I’m starting work on it on November 2. I’m hoping to open, although it’s not set in stone, in December.
“We have had a lot of support from the public. Micropubs are quite popular.
“People have said they are glad I have been given planning permission.
“Hopefully it will take off. I’m now just working out what people want.
“It will hold about 20 people at a time before it would get uncomfortable.
“People like the idea of having a drink somewhere that is like someone’s front room.”
The proposal saw a welcome response from locals with the council receiving 26 supporting letters and one objection letter that raised concerns over parking in the area.
Work is set to start on the micropub next month and will be spacious enough to hold 20 customers at a given time.
