An application has been submitted to bring a new micropub to Margate that would see the former ‘Card Centre’, located at 40 High Street, be transformed not only into a micropub but also a café.
Steven Meech submitted the application and plans to sell local ales, wines, ciders along with fruit juices, tea, coffee and minerals. While the new business will run as a mixture of café and micropub, Steven also hopes to be able to display and sell work from local artists within the building, all without commission.
Steven claims that the building has currently been empty for over a year and is in a poor state, with refurbishments being required, although no major alterations will be made to the building.
The micropub should be well received by the locals, with other award winning micropubs nearby such as Yard of Ale or The Butchers Arms proving to be a huge success and bringing the locals closer together as they converse over a pint of ale.
