A few regulars of the Golden Smog micro pub, located in Stockton call themselves ‘The Ale Team’ John Christie, owner of the micro pub said: “They’re a group of lads that do regular charity events, told me that every year they walk from Masham in North Yorkshire back to Stockton in aid of The Great North Air Ambulance.”
“They said that this year, they would like the walk to finish at The Smog.
“I said this would be great, but suggested that if we could get a brewery to donate a small barrel of ale, they could carry it back with them, then sell it to raise more funds for the charity.”
The event saw 12 teams, mixed of walkers and cyclists starting from different breweries within the region to all meet at their final destination, The Golden Smog, where the ale was then sold to raise money for the charity at a mini ale festival.
This is another great example of micro pubs being more than just a place to drink and more of a community.
