When it comes to a scenic trip out the Derbyshire Peak District has plenty to offer including picturesque views, great walks, and plenty more to visit. Among to places to check out here is the spa town of Buxton, which is where we headed up to so that we could check out the town’s micropub offering. Just a short walk from the town’s market place and one of its main bus stops we checked out The Ale Stop.
Old-School marvels
The Ale Stop is a single-room micropub but with two different areas as such. On the left as you enter is the main bar area with lots of old-school delights dotted on the wall including comic book covers, vintage photography and music artwork. Speaking of music live gigs are played at The Ale Stop on most weekends.
So whilst the left half of the venue has an old-school theme, the other half on the right is more of the relaxed, traditional setting with fireplace and books. Most importantly you’re not far away from the bar.
STOP! Beer time
As far as the drinks range at The Ale Stop is concerned there’s a pretty good selection of beverages to choose from. Starting with the cask offering where you have up to four ales available whilst there are also four lagers is that’s more to your taste. Cider drinkers have three tipples to enjoy, and there are also wines, spirits, whiskeys and soft drinks available as well as bar snacks including nuts and pork scratchings.
Stop another time?
Next time we’re planning a visit to Buxton we’d definitely pay another visit to The Ale Stop, not just for a good pint or two but also to marvel at their brilliant vintage wall. We were certainly made to feel welcome here by both staff and customers alike. In short we will stop here again.
